Maintenance

The Athens Housing Authority staff takes pride in providing our residents with well-maintained housing. To request regular repairs, Monday – Friday between 8 a. m. and 5 p.m., residents should call their Property Management Office (see listing at Contact Us page). A work order will be completed and assignments will be made to the Maintenance team. In addition, the Property Management staff can provide information on trash disposal, moving out procedures, and maintenance rate charges for damages and repairs that do not represent normal wear and tear.

Our maintenance staff is available on a 24-hour basis for emergency service. Examples of emergencies include:

  • gas leaks;
  • broken water heater;
  • sewage backup;
  • fire,
  • lighting a pilot light on a furnace, stove, or water heater; or,
  • repairing a broken lock, exterior door or window.

For after hours emergency maintenance service, residents should call 706-425-5353.

In addition to emergency service, our maintenance staff will respond to urgent or pressing situations between 4:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday – Friday and between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The number to call during urgent service hours is 706-425-5353.

The following situations are considered to be urgent or pressing:

  • equipment failure such as refrigerator, water heater, stove, or furnance;
  • handicap/disabled units’ air conditioning;
  • AHA supplied air conditioning for any unit if heat index exceeds 100 degree F.
  • stopped up toilet (if only one in unit)
