GHAP
As a founding member of the Georgia Housing Assistance Payments Administrators, Inc. (GHAP), the Athens Housing Authority is responsible for monitoring program compliance of Northeast Georgia property owners participating in the federal rent voucher program (Section 8) through a contract with HUD. In addition, GHAP recently won a contract to provide the Section 8 monitoring program for the State of Illinois ( excluding the Chicago area). Profit sharing proceeds from this activity will return to the Athens Housing Authority and the community.

Georgia Mark-to-Market Consortium
As a partner in the Georgia Mark-to-Market Consortium, the Athens Housing Authority has a significant role in the restructuring and refinancing of privately owned Section 8 housing throughout the state.
